With a 14-bay stables, 12 horses and 1 foal on site, trek across high country farm land with breath taking views of Ben Avon station and the surrounding Ahuriri Valley.
We have 3 treks available, each catered to different riding levels:
The ultimate gliding experience in the world’s best soaring environment right from The Lindis! Experience the unusual and spectacular conditions that the Ahuriri Valley & Omarama are famous for. A dramatic soaring adventure deep into our mountains.
Multiple gliders each with a single passenger and instructor are provided by the international gliding school at nearby Glide Omarama. Depending on the day’s weather, flights around Mt Cook or even Milford Sound are possible from The Lindis’ own private air strip.
The Lindis is situated on one of the best stretches of water for fly fishing locations in the world, the Ahuriri River. The Ahuriri River is internationally renowned, and has been rated top 5 in the world!
The river runs directly in front of the lodge so guests can take a short stroll down to the waters edge. Guests will also be able to watch local anglers in the fishing season from the lodge as they fish for trout over the summer months.
With over 49,000 hectares of rugged mountain country, valuable and vulnerable wet lands, tussock lands and beech forest and sub alpine herb fields the Ahuriri Valley is a great place to explore on foot.
From The Lindis, we can organise walks that are personally designed to suit you, with a ‘walk menu’ available at the lodge to choose from. Guided & self-guided options will be available.

Sons Lachie and Scott, have multiple national off road moto titles (Super Cross & Quad Bikes) between them and daughter Alanna has 3 national titles in downhill mountain biking.
